The Wiz Co-Founders: Ami Luttwak, Yinon Costica, and Roy Reznik — The Cohort Behind the Largest Israeli Tech Exit in History

Wiz was founded in March 2020 by Assaf Rappaport, Ami Luttwak, Yinon Costica, and Roy Reznik — four operators who built Adallom, sold it to Microsoft in 2015, then founded Wiz and sold it to Google in March 2026 for $32 billion — the largest Israeli tech exit in history.

Wiz was founded in March 2020 by Assaf Rappaport, Ami Luttwak, Yinon Costica, and Roy Reznik — four operators who had previously built Adallom together, sold it to Microsoft for $320 million in 2015, and served in senior Microsoft Cloud Security leadership roles through 2020. The founding cohort's second act was Wiz — the cloud-security platform that grew from founding to a Google acquisition at $32 billion in March 2026, the largest Israeli technology exit in history. Rappaport is the founder-CEO whose profile carries most of the public visibility. Luttwak, Costica, and Reznik are the three technical co-founders whose specific engineering and product roles built the product that made the exit possible.

Adallom was founded in 2012 in Tel Aviv by Rappaport, Luttwak, and Roy Reznik — three of the four eventual Wiz co-founders. (Yinon Costica joined the founding cohort at Wiz.) Adallom's founding thesis was that the enterprise transition to cloud-delivered software had created a new class of security exposure — corporate data now sat inside third-party SaaS applications with only rudimentary access-control and monitoring capabilities. The company grew rapidly through 2013–2015 and was acquired by Microsoft in September 2015 for $320 million. Adallom's technology became the foundation of Microsoft Cloud App Security.
The Microsoft years and the 2020 founding
The Adallom cohort stayed inside Microsoft for approximately five years post-acquisition. Rappaport ran Microsoft's Cloud Security operation for Israel. Luttwak served as Chief Architect for the Microsoft Cloud Security product line. Costica held product leadership. Reznik led engineering. The four operators built out Microsoft's cloud-security capabilities from an initial acquisition target into a mature product line running at multi-hundred-million-dollar annual revenue inside one of the world's largest software companies. The Wiz founding thesis was that a single agentless API-driven architecture, scanning across all three major cloud providers, could deliver security posture management, risk prioritization, and incident response at an architectural depth that agent-based approaches structurally could not. Wiz was founded in March 2020 by all four operators leaving Microsoft together.
The role split inside the founding team
Assaf Rappaport (CEO) — the founder-CEO and public face of the company; the operator responsible for the go-to-market motion that took Wiz from zero to $100M ARR in 18 months. Profile: Assaf Rappaport: Wiz Co-Founder Behind Israel's Largest Exit Ever.
Ami Luttwak (CTO) — the founding technical architect. Luttwak's engineering leadership defined the agentless architecture that structurally differentiated Wiz from the incumbent cloud-security category (Palo Alto Prisma Cloud, Check Point CloudGuard, and the broader agent-based cohort). His background inside Microsoft as Chief Architect for Cloud Security gave him visibility into what the incumbent architectures did poorly — the foundation for the architectural bet that Wiz made.
Yinon Costica (VP Product) — the product leader who translated the architectural bet into a product design that enterprise customers could deploy at scale. Costica's product roadmap defined the Wiz product surface across the growth arc from initial customer proof-of-concept to full enterprise deployment. His pre-Wiz roles at Microsoft and previously at Israeli enterprise-software companies gave him the customer-adjacent product-management depth that the founding team needed.
Roy Reznik (VP R&D) — the engineering leader who built the organization that shipped the product. Reznik's engineering-leadership track inside Adallom and Microsoft was the scale-up foundation for Wiz's technical organization, which grew from four founders to reportedly 900+ employees at the time of the Google agreement.
The growth trajectory
Wiz's growth arc from founding to the Google agreement is one of the fastest-recorded ARR trajectories in enterprise software history. The company reached $100 million ARR in January 2022 — 18 months from founding. By 2024, Wiz had grown to over $500 million ARR; at the time of the Google agreement, reporting placed ARR at $700 million-plus and growing at high double-digit percentages annually. Wiz was reported to have signed 40 percent of the Fortune 100 by 2022.
The Google acquisition
In July 2024, Wiz reportedly rejected a $23 billion acquisition offer from Google. Approximately eight months later, the founding team accepted a substantially higher offer: $32 billion, in cash, from Alphabet — the largest single technology acquisition in Israeli history, the largest single cybersecurity acquisition in history, and one of the largest technology acquisitions of any kind in the past decade globally. The deal completed in March 2026 after regulatory review. Post-acquisition, Wiz operates as part of Google Cloud Security, with the four founding operators inside Google's cloud-security leadership structure.
Where the cohort sits in the Israeli cyber economy
The Adallom-to-Microsoft-to-Wiz-to-Google loop is now the single highest-outcome founding-cohort trajectory in the Israeli cyber category. The Wiz exit reset the ceiling on Israeli technology exits — the previous ceiling, Mobileye's $15.3 billion sale to Intel in 2017, was more than doubled. The four operators involved are now inside the world's largest cloud-security operation, at a point in their careers when the possibility of a third-act founding is one of the industry's most-watched signals.
Why the Wiz cohort matters
The Wiz exit is not a solo-founder story and cannot be read as one. The founding team of four — Rappaport, Luttwak, Costica, Reznik — represents one of the highest-repeated founding cohorts in the Israeli technology industry, with a shared trajectory from Adallom through Microsoft into Wiz that supplied the operating depth to build the fastest-growing enterprise cybersecurity company in history. The three co-founders whose profiles carry less public visibility than Rappaport — Luttwak, Costica, Reznik — are equally category-serious operators individually, and their specific roles inside the Wiz story are the reason the story ended at $32 billion rather than at $3 billion.
