Viola Ventures is the early-stage arm of Viola Group, the Herzliya-headquartered Israeli technology investment platform co-founded in 2000 by Shlomo Dovrat, Avi Zeevi, and Harel Beit-On. Viola is the largest and one of the oldest Israeli technology-focused investment houses, operating multiple product lines under a single group: Viola Ventures (early stage), Viola Growth (growth equity), Viola Credit (venture debt and structured credit), Viola FinTech (financial-services specialist fund), and Viola Partners (family-office private equity). Portfolio outcomes at the Ventures level include Payoneer (NASDAQ: PAYO), Outbrain (NASDAQ: OB), Lightricks, ironSource, and a broader roster of Israeli category leaders across two decades of Israeli venture history.
What Viola Ventures does
Viola Ventures writes Series A and Series B checks — occasionally seed — into Israeli technology companies across enterprise software, consumer internet, fintech infrastructure, cyber, and adjacent categories. The fund operates a generalist thesis with the check-size discipline of a Series A specialist: fewer companies per vintage than a seed fund, higher initial ownership, deep operational involvement through the first commercial scaling phase.
The Ventures arm sits inside a broader house that can follow its own Series A investments through growth, credit, and later-stage rounds without founder handoff to an outside fund. That continuity — early Viola check, growth check from Viola Growth, structured credit from Viola Credit as the company scales — is one of the platform's core commercial arguments to Israeli founders.
Founders and leadership
Shlomo Dovrat co-founded Viola Group in 2000 and remains one of its principal figures. Prior to Viola he was a founding partner of Formula Ventures and a senior figure in the earliest generation of institutional Israeli venture capital. Avi Zeevi and Harel Beit-On co-founded the group with Dovrat. Beit-On leads the Viola Growth arm; the Ventures arm has been led by successive partner cohorts including Zeev Holtzman, Ronen Nir, and later senior partners as the vintage generations turned over.

Position in the Israeli venture stack
Viola Ventures is the largest generalist Israeli venture fund by AUM inside the largest Israeli technology investment group. That combination — scale plus multi-strategy platform — differentiates Viola from the single-product Israeli funds it competes with for founders. Aleph, Pitango, and Grove all operate strong single-product early-stage franchises. Viola offers a longer capital continuity across the company's life cycle.
The tradeoff for founders is portfolio breadth versus concentration. Single-product funds concentrate ownership and attention on fewer companies per vintage. Viola operates larger fund sizes and broader portfolios, with the offset that a company inside the Viola ecosystem gains access to growth, credit, and adjacent capital pools without leaving the house.
