aMoon Fund: Marius Nacht's $1B+ Israeli Healthtech Venture Platform

aMoon Fund is Marius Nacht's Israeli healthtech venture platform, launched 2016 with ~$1B committed. Israel's largest dedicated healthcare VC. Biopharma, med device, digital health, health-adjacent AI. Portfolio: Insightec, Zenflow.

aMoon Fund is the Ra'anana-based healthtech and life-sciences venture platform founded in 2016 by Marius Nacht — the Check Point Software Technologies co-founder — together with Dr. Yair Schindel, an Israeli physician-entrepreneur. aMoon I launched in 2016 with $200 million entirely committed by Nacht as sole LP. aMoon II closed at $660 million in March 2019, at the time the largest single venture fund in Israel and one of the largest life-sciences funds outside the United States. The platform now operates through aMoon Velocity (early stage), aMoon Growth (late stage), and aMoon Alpha (in-house portfolio-execution team), with 61 portfolio investments spanning two unicorns, 11 IPOs, and four acquisitions. Named portfolio: Insightec, Omada Health, Seer, Adicet Bio, DayTwo, CartiHeal.

Founding — Nacht and Schindel, 2016

aMoon was founded in 2016 by Marius Nacht and Dr. Yair Schindel with the thesis that the convergence of technology and healthcare would produce a generation of Israeli-anchored healthtech companies capable of scaling to global scale. Schindel — an Israeli physician, entrepreneur, and investor — is the fund's Managing Partner and operational lead. Nacht co-founded and remains anchor investor and strategic partner.

aMoon I launched with $200 million committed entirely from Nacht as sole limited partner. That single-LP structure was deliberate: Nacht's thesis was to establish returns on the platform's investment approach before opening the fund to external institutional capital. The approach worked. When aMoon II opened in April 2018, external institutional and family-office LPs approached the fund; Credit Suisse anchored the raise, contributing approximately $250 million of the $660 million final close in March 2019.

The Nacht profile — Check Point Software Technologies co-founder

Marius Nacht co-founded Check Point Software Technologies (NASDAQ: CHKP) in 1993 with Gil Shwed and Shlomo Kramer. Check Point is Israel's largest cybersecurity company by market capitalization and one of the defining companies in the modern cybersecurity industry. Nacht served as vice chairman of the Check Point board through the establishment of aMoon and remains one of the founding architects of the modern Israeli cybersecurity cluster.

Nacht holds a BSc in Physics and Mathematics (cum laude) from Hebrew University and an MSc in Electrical Engineering and Communications Systems from Tel Aviv University. Alongside aMoon, Nacht established the 8400 nonprofit — a Health Network platform organized to accelerate the growth of the Israeli healthtech ecosystem — as a strategic complement to the fund.

Fund architecture — aMoon I, aMoon II, and the current three-fund platform

aMoon I ($200 million, 2016) invested Nacht's personal capital into both early-stage company-building (DayTwo, among others) and later-stage healthcare-technology positions (BiondVax, CartiHeal, Mapi Pharma). aMoon II ($660 million, March 2019) opened the platform to external institutional capital and shifted stage emphasis toward mid- and late-stage life-sciences companies pursuing digital health, medical technologies, and biopharmaceutical categories.

The current aMoon platform is organized into three functional units: aMoon Velocity (early- and mid-stage investment), aMoon Growth (late-stage investment), and aMoon Alpha (an in-house portfolio-execution team dedicated to strengthening portfolio-company operating execution). The Alpha team is distinctive inside the Israeli VC layer: most funds outsource operating-support to portfolio companies' own management teams; aMoon runs the function in-house.

Investment thesis — biopharma, digital health, medtech

The aMoon thesis is global healthtech and life sciences, invested through an Israeli-anchored institutional platform. Category emphasis runs across biopharmaceuticals (including antibody-based therapeutics and precision-medicine platforms), digital health (including AI-enabled clinical decision support), and medical technology (including therapeutic and diagnostic devices).

The geographic scope is global, with portfolio positions concentrated across Israel, the United States, and additional healthcare-innovation hubs. As of December 2025, aMoon reported 61 portfolio companies, with recent activity concentrated in Series B and later rounds and a growing US-based portfolio component. The 2024–2025 deployment cadence has run at approximately seven new investments per year.

Portfolio and exits — Insightec, Omada, Seer, Adicet Bio

aMoon's portfolio has produced two unicorns, 11 IPOs, and four acquisitions across its operating history. Named positions and exits include Insightec (the focused-ultrasound therapeutics company), Omada Health (the US-based digital-therapeutics platform, NASDAQ: OMDA), Seer (proteomics, NASDAQ: SEER), Adicet Bio (gamma-delta T-cell cancer therapy, NASDAQ: ACET), and DayTwo (personalized nutrition and metabolic-health platform, built inside aMoon I). Fidelity Investments is a frequent co-investor across the aMoon portfolio, and the fund's participation across Series B and later stages routinely appears alongside the reference US healthcare growth-equity investors.

The Credit Suisse LP anchor and institutional structure

The aMoon II raise in 2018–2019 was distinctive for the Israeli venture layer in the scale of external institutional capital it attracted. Credit Suisse was reported to have raised approximately $250 million of the $660 million fund close — one of the largest single foreign-bank commitments to an Israeli venture fund at the time. The remainder came from institutional investors in Israel and abroad, including strategic corporate LPs and family-office capital. Yair Kahn — the former CEO of Migdal Insurance and a senior figure in the Israeli institutional-investor layer — is publicly identified as an investor and supporter of the aMoon platform.

The scale of the LP base is what made aMoon II the largest single venture fund operating in Israel at the point of its close, and the institutional-investor commitment established the platform as the reference Israeli healthtech venture vehicle for foreign institutional capital seeking Israeli life-sciences exposure.

Yair Schindel and the 8400 Health Network

Dr. Yair Schindel — aMoon's co-founder and Managing Partner — is an Israeli physician and entrepreneur who trained clinically before moving into healthcare-technology investing. Alongside aMoon, Schindel and Nacht established 8400 — the Health Network — as a nonprofit ecosystem-building organization dedicated to accelerating the Israeli healthtech cluster. The 8400 platform organizes fellowships, industry programming, and cross-sector coordination between Israeli academic medical centers, health-technology entrepreneurs, and international healthcare-industry participants.

The combination of aMoon (the institutional capital vehicle) and 8400 (the ecosystem-building layer) is structurally distinctive inside the Israeli venture landscape. Most Israeli VCs invest against an existing ecosystem; Nacht and Schindel built both the capital vehicle and the ecosystem-building institution in parallel — a pattern that parallels the Team8 build-and-invest model in cybersecurity.

Position in the Israeli healthcare venture cluster

aMoon sits at the top of the Israeli healthtech venture layer alongside OrbiMed Israel — the Herzliya office of the New York-headquartered global healthcare specialist. The two platforms differ on institutional foundation: aMoon is Israeli-founded, Nacht-anchored, and Israeli-headquartered; OrbiMed is a global platform with an Israel office. Both are the reference institutional healthcare investors in the Israeli venture cluster and both routinely appear on the same cap tables.
