AI21 Labs is an Israeli foundation-model and enterprise-AI company founded in 2017 by Yoav Shoham (Stanford), Amnon Shashua (Mobileye), and Ori Goshen. The company developed the Jurassic large-language-model family and the Wordtune consumer writing product before pivoting to its current focus: Maestro, an orchestration layer for enterprise AI agents.
AI21 became one of the highest-profile Israeli AI franchises through a 2023 Series C at a $1.4 billion post-money valuation led by Nvidia, Google, Walden Catalyst, and Pitango. A planned merger with Nasdaq-listed Nebius Group collapsed in early 2026, after which the company sharpened its enterprise-orchestration positioning under Maestro.
