Rapyd is an Israeli fintech-as-a-service company founded in 2016 by Arik Shtilman, Arkady Karpman, and Omer Priel. The company built a single API and platform offering cross-border payments, card issuing, wallet infrastructure, and embedded financial services that customer-facing companies integrate to handle money movement without becoming licensed financial institutions themselves.
Rapyd reached a $15 billion valuation in 2021 at the peak of the fintech cycle in a round led by Target Global, Tiger Global, General Catalyst, and Fidelity, formally becoming Israel's most highly valued private fintech. The company's positioning sits between the Stripe / Adyen merchant-acquiring layer and the cross-border consumer-payments layer occupied by Payoneer and Wise.
Rapyd represents the embedded-finance thesis applied at international scale: the underlying licensing, settlement, and FX infrastructure is provided as a service, allowing non-fintech companies to launch financial products in dozens of countries without building local regulatory relationships.
