Olim
Olim (Hebrew: עולים — plural of oleh / olah) refers to Jewish immigrants to the State of Israel — those making aliyah. The singular oleh (masculine) or olah (feminine) describes an individual immigrant; olim is the plural form covering both genders.
The term carries both legal-administrative and cultural significance. Legally, olim status under the Israeli Ministry of Aliyah and Integration registration architecture confers structured benefits including the 10-year foreign-source income tax exemption, the 5-year capped Israeli-source income exemption under the 2026 reform package, Mas Rechisha purchase-tax reduced rates on first-residence acquisition, Sal Klitah (absorption-basket cash benefits for the initial integration period), tuition support, professional-licensing transfer support, and broader integration services.
Per Israeli Ministry of Aliyah and Integration data, total Israeli aliyah reached 21,900 olim in 2025 across all geographies and operating partners. The 2026 aliyah tax reform window (running from November 5, 2025 through December 31, 2026) has substantially expanded UHNW oleh registration through 2025-2026.
Olim from different geographies typically work with different operating partners — North American and UK olim through Nefesh B'Nefesh, French olim through Qualita and adjacent French-Jewish institutional infrastructure, Latin American olim through Latin American Jewish institutional infrastructure, and other geographies through the Jewish Agency for Israel.
