The Leviathan Field is the largest offshore natural gas field in the Eastern Mediterranean, located in Israeli economic waters roughly 130 kilometers west of Haifa. The field was discovered in 2010 and entered commercial production in late 2019, with estimated proved-and-probable reserves of approximately 22 trillion cubic feet (Tcf).

Leviathan is the resource base that converted Israel from a domestic gas market into a regional energy exporter. Long-term supply contracts run to Egypt (via the EMG Pipeline) and Jordan (via the Arab Gas Pipeline), with planned future LNG exports through floating LNG (FLNG) infrastructure or pipeline routing into the EastMed Gas Forum framework.

The operating partnership is led by Chevron (operator, ~39.66% working interest), NewMed Energy (~45.34%), and Ratio Petroleum (~15%). The field's strategic importance has made it the focal point of EastMed regional energy diplomacy.
