International Distribution Rights

International Distribution Rights describe the contractual rights to distribute a television program in international markets outside the original production's primary national market. For Israeli original television specifically, international distribution rights operate as the structural commercial mechanism through which Israeli production reaches international audiences.

International distribution rights typically operate through several distinct architectures:

— Direct sale to a global streaming operator (Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, HBO Max, Disney+) covering substantial international territories under a single transaction — Territory-by-territory licensing to local broadcasters and streaming operators in specific national markets — Format-licensing arrangements (covered at /glossary/format-licensing/ and /glossary/television-format-remake/) operating alongside direct international distribution — Festival and theatrical distribution arrangements for specific titles where the commercial position supports theatrical exhibition

For Israeli original production, Yes Studios and Keshet International operate as the principal international distribution operators alongside selected direct production-company international-distribution activity.

The Fauda Netflix partnership represents the direct-sale-to-global-streaming model. The Shtisel international distribution also operates through this model. Multiple additional Israeli original productions operate through territory-by-territory licensing across specific national markets where global-streaming distribution is not the optimal commercial pattern.
