Silicon Wadi
Nickname for Israel's dense high-technology corridor, echoing Silicon Valley.
Silicon Wadi ("wadi" being the Hebrew and Arabic word for valley) is the nickname for Israel's high-technology cluster — the dense corridor of startups, R&D centers, and multinationals running from Tel Aviv and Herzliya up the coastal plain to Haifa, with Jerusalem and Beer Sheva as secondary hubs. The term deliberately echoes Silicon Valley, and by most measures Israel has the highest density of startups and venture capital per capita in the world. Global technology firms — Intel, Microsoft, Google, Nvidia, Apple — all operate major research centers inside Silicon Wadi, drawn by talent pipelines from the IDF's elite technology units and Israeli universities.
