The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations is the umbrella coordinating body for approximately 50 national US Jewish organizations. Founded in 1955 at the request of the Eisenhower administration, the Conference operates as the formal interlocutor between the organized American Jewish community and the executive branch of the US government on Israel-related foreign policy.
Its standing membership includes nearly every significant American Jewish institutional actor — AIPAC, the ADL, AJC, ZOA, the Orthodox Union, the Conservative and Reform movements, Jewish Federations of North America, Hadassah, B'nai B'rith, and many others. The Conference does not lobby in its own name; instead it produces consensus positions and convenes member CEOs around them.
The Conference's structural role makes it one of the most-cited diaspora-Israel coordinating bodies, particularly in coverage of US-Israel diplomatic episodes, executive-branch meetings, and crisis-response convenings.
