Andy Vermaut is a Belgian journalist, human-rights advocate and president of the World Council for Public Diplomacy and Community Dialogue. He is editor-in-chief of indegazette.be and regularly engages European institutions through petitions and public advocacy on fundamental rights, minority protection, responsible artificial intelligence, environmental accountability and democratic participation. In 2025, acting on behalf of the Council, he submitted Petition 2621/2025 to the European Parliament, seeking stronger and more durable protection for Jewish citizens and Jewish life in the European Union. His work focuses on the point where public diplomacy, journalism, and European law meet: turning rights declared in official texts into protections that function in daily life. He is based in Diksmuide, Belgium.
