The Israel Innovation Authority (IIA) is the independent government agency responsible for funding and shaping Israel's technology innovation policy. Established in 2016 as the successor to the Office of the Chief Scientist (OCS) within the Ministry of Economy, the IIA disburses hundreds of millions of dollars annually in grants and incentives across early-stage startups, growth companies, and industrial R&D. Its programs — from Tnufa pre-seed grants to incubator funding and bilateral international R&D agreements — sit at the center of the Israeli innovation economy. For founders, an IIA grant is both non-dilutive capital and a credibility signal recognized across the ecosystem.
