Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) is Israel's primary international gateway, located between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Operated by the Israel Airports Authority, the airport handles the vast majority of inbound and outbound passenger traffic for the country and serves as the home hub for El Al, Arkia, and Israir.
The airport is in the middle of a multi-stage expansion program designed to lift annual passenger capacity from roughly 24 million pre-pandemic to a planned 35+ million. The expansion includes a new Terminal 1 reconstruction, additional remote stands and aircraft parking, a new cargo apron, expanded ground transportation including direct integration with the high-speed Tel Aviv–Jerusalem rail line, and security architecture upgrades.
TLV is structurally important to Israeli commerce because it is the country's only large-scale international airport — there is no functional secondary hub equivalent to a JFK-versus-LGA or LHR-versus-LGW domestic pair. The Ramon Airport in the south handles modest secondary traffic; the bulk of inbound aliyah, business travel, and tourism passes through TLV.
