Migdal is one of the five major Israeli insurance and long-term-savings groups, alongside Clal Insurance, Harel Insurance, Phoenix Holdings, and Menora Mivtachim. Together these five groups manage the bulk of Israel's pension and provident-fund assets and operate as the principal domestic long-duration allocators in the Israeli capital base.
Migdal's core franchises are life insurance and pension administration, with substantial general-insurance and asset-management arms. The group's institutional weight comes less from quarterly earnings than from the long-duration savings pools it administers on behalf of Israeli employees and retirees — making Migdal a primary buyer of Israeli sovereign debt, Israeli equity, and overseas allocations alongside its peer set.
